I have decided that I am going to create mock ups of my events pages. This is because I know the most information on these, and I know how I would like the pages to look.

I had a go at some mock ups on the website ‘Balsamiq’. Balsamiq is a ‘rapid wireframing tool that reproduces the experience of sketching on a whiteboard’. Over 150,000 companies use this to help mock up software.

After watching a quick tutorial I found it very easy to use. I enjoyed using this software, and I like how you can click and drag what you want, creating a great looking, realistic looking mock up. However, I found it hard to find photos that I would like to include- which leads me to think that I will create my mock ups on Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Also, I only have a free trial of Balsamiq, as you have to pay for membership.

I also wireframed the event pages in a bit more detail whilst on the site.

Klynt review

To assist with my web doc assignment I had a look at Klynt. This is an interactive editing and publishing application that is dedicated to creative storytellers.

It had mixed media editing, visual storyboards and is social media friendly. It also is quick for publishing and embeddable anywhere.

It would normally cost to use this, but I have a trial of the software on my computer so I could have a go. At first I found it really difficult to navigate, but I had a look at a tutorial which helped a little.

I still could not figure out how to add anything but text to each storyboard, however.

This screenshot shows how my web doc would be set out and how each page is connected.

Front cover for magazine

After several attempts at trying to do this I have finally done it!!!

For my creative packaging in Graphic Design I have decided to create a magazine mock up, with my CV and examples of my work inside.

For the front cover I didn’t really want a photo of myself, but every magazine always has a photo on the cover, so I spoke to Dave and he gave me a tutorial on how to edit an image to create an illustrated face.

I tried so many times to do this but with my lack of knowledge in photoshop I struggled a lot, but in the end I’ve managed, and I actually quite enjoyed doing it in the end!!

Through the tutorial I learnt about placing images, cleaning up my image and sorting out/ changing the colours, desaturating and so much more like using the polygonal lasso and also got to grips with layers which I didn’t understand too well.

I loved trying out all of the different downloaded brushes I was given and I think my end result looks pretty good considering how much I could do before!

Here is a screenshot of the final product:

Tutorials- 05/12/13

We merged our Writing for Purpose lesson and CATS lesson together today for each of us to have a tutorial with Dave. Whilst waiting for my tutorial to start, I started researching my chosen subjects for my Writing for Purpose article.

During my tutorial we spoke about my subjects, if I was confused or had any questions, and what exactly needed to be handed in.

I found this very useful and I now have no questions about what I should be doing in these lessons.
